Mid-July saw a successful hydraulic test of Recovery Boiler 14, one of the key construction facilities of the Big Bratsk investment project implemented by OJSC Ilim Group in the Irkutsk Oblast. The Recovery Boiler work is nearing completion.
Hydraulic test is one of the most important steps in recovery boiler construction intended to identify potential welding and installation defects. The test revealed no significant deficiencies proving the quality of installation work. The Company is now able to enter into the final stage of the Recovery Boiler construction process.
At present, the Big Bratsk project is 70% complete, with some facilities reaching 95% completion.
Construction of a new pulp mill in Bratsk is the largest investment project in the Russian pulp and paper industry in the last 30 years. This upgrade will make the Bratsk mill of OJSC Ilim Group the largest and one of the most up-to-date softwood pulp manufacturing facilities globally. Big Bratsk is a priority investment project with estimated cost reaching USD 700 million.
